Lion's Head offices - Paarl
The Brief
The client wanted new head offices for their companies but with rentable extra offices that is of an upmarket nature.
The building must be contemporary with clean crisp. lines and must incorporate green trees inside the building. The round form had to be prominent in the design
The Design
Being located inside an industrial business park it was quite an challenge to blend the lines of an upmarket A Grade office block into the direct contect and still comply with the design guidelines. This was achieved by the square design and metal cladding giving the building an industrial look
Two wings with a central service area formed the parti for the building. The one wing is for the husband's business and other for the wife on the top floor with the communal kitchen and staff rest room for both companies.
The ground floor is sectionalised into 4 office spaces and a public restroom .
For the green element and use of natural light 2 big cylindrical glass tubes was inserted into the centre of each wing to allow natural light to flood the spaces and free draining so that a tree can be planted in each of the tubes and grow natuarly.
